As Infants ... Welcome and hello! Glad we can get together ... Have you ever looked at an infant and sense preciousness? Then the child smiles ever so innocently? When the child cries, unhappy because of wetness or hunger or a diaper too tight, and then the child eases into a gleeful smile and maybe even a giggle, when the source of discomfort is comforted away... you, too, can perceive the world with wonderment and awe each moment being a new beginning. Be resilient and bounce with joy. Does not this childlike joy bring a sense of good will and peace to you? We, also, can bring loving kindness to those in our midst just by a simple change in perspective. Let us recall a Zen experience: Emptiness and form, mutually penetrate to such a degree as to become virtually indistinguishable. Our polarized conceptual notions of the difference between the Absolute and the relative, the Real and the apparent — dissolve. This final collapse of dualistic thinking catalyzes the experience of inner freedom and spontaneous action known as the play of the child-like sage - within the illusory world. Dongshan's 5th Rank edit and adapted from Dongshan Five Ranks Let us, then, explore the Mind of a Child. Let us whisk away our neurotic self-centered tendencies that invite pain and suffering not only to others but also to our selves. In but a few short hours we can re-awaken our own natural mind of a Child and bring peace and joy into Life, our own and the lives of those around us. How? Just as easy as when we let our selves fall into sleep. Let go. What to do next? Just click on the tab below for the next screen. |
